I only stayed one night at the Hides Hotel because I wanted to take the train to Brisbane the next day. So I was looking for a simple hotel in the center. The hotel is a bit old, yes. But I wasn't expecting a Hilton. Maybe it was because of my room or because it was out of season, I couldn't hear any noise from the disco etc. You can just hear the kids in the hallway, so a bit more insulation wouldn't be a bad idea. The internet was moderately good. It could be faster, but I've had worse. I enjoyed the food and some tours. So I can't judge that. Around the hotel, which is right in the center, you'll find everything you're looking for. Restaurants, bars, supermarket etc. You can't complain.

super good location, cheap price, very good value for money. the hotel has a very long history for almost 150 years, famous in the past in Cairns, worth to visit and stay for a short period. there are a lot of rooms on the 2nd and 3rd floor. super huge terrace on the 2nd floor we found it very quite inside the hotel, though the birds make noises outside. the rooms are actually renovated, though the shower heads and taps are not changed to the modern type. we first booked for 1 night then decided to extend to 5 nights. this hotel is way better value for money than many others in Cairns, a true 3.5 star hotel, have a lot of potential.

Cheap hotel in the Centre of the location, had a late check-in due to plane delay so had to give the hotel reception a call which the did message me the instruction of how to get to my room. There seems to be a paid laundry facility in the building however I did not use it. The room itself was quite large with lots of charging spots, a aircon and a ceiling fan, nothing fancy but good value for what was needed. It's located n the center if the city area and across the road from the grocery shop (Woolworths). has a small fridge but the fridge doesn't seen to have a freezer section so don't buy anything frozen.

The location is great, you can get around the city if Cairns easily by food, everything you could possibly need is close by, I was a little worried that it would be noisy from the pubs and clubs close by, but there was no noise at all. The room was clean, the air-conditioning worked well, and there was enough room, so it didn't feel cramped. Breakfast was good for the price, the staff were all friendly and helpful. The balcony is a great place to sit and enjoy breakfast or an evening watching the world go by after a big day exploring Cairns.

Laura

The room was good, the location was great it was in the town centre and walking distance to everything including the lagoon pool, Woolworths, the island marina, Cairns Central shopping centre, the price was reasonable, plenty of pubs food shops markets and other attractions to keep you occupied all day. I used a hire car and visited Paranella Park, Mamu sky walk, Kuranda and Trinity Beach. I enjoyed Cairns and will be back if Im after a cheap place to stay I will use Hides Hotel again.
